Firetales

by Robert May on Proper Pleasant Poems

Long by the fire,
We dare not desire,
To retire and drink to the last.

Once more and again,
Last orders refrain,
We sit and regale of the past.

For knowledge remains,
And stories pertain,
But to ashes the fire must grow.

For us and our songs,
And fellowships long,
To time and forever we go.
